2008 Cuba

I visited Cuba for the first time in 2000 with my friend and Cuba expert René Grossenbacher. We went back again in 2008 to do research for a book project, each time for a week. Cuba is probably the ultimate dream destination for all photographers. I was captivated not just visually, but also acoustically: the rhythms of rumba, salsa, cha-cha-cha and son Cubano follow you wherever you go.

On my first trip, I was still taking analogue photos. Eight years later, I used one of the first more or less usable digital cameras. Digital technology was unfortunately not as advanced back then as it is today.
