In 1981 I did research for a film in Sinai, which was occupied by Israel. Together with Viktor Kocher, who was working as a delegate for the ICRC at that time, and my colleague Beni Müller, we crossed the Gaza Strip from Tel Aviv and then the Sinai. Our destination was Ofira. Ofira was the Israeli military base and was located about one kilometer west of Sharm el Sheikh. Sharm el Sheikh consisted at that time only of a hotel and a small camp building, surrounded by desert, as far as the eye could see. The pictures were taken as visual notes for our script.
